Every 10 years, the Colorado Division of Water Resource’s division engineer is required to present to the water court a list of water rights that the division engineer believes have been abandoned or partially abandoned over the last decade. Notices will be mailed to the last known owner by July 31, 2020. What does this mean for you? If you receive a notice and wish to object to the inclusion of your water right on the list, you must file a statement of objection in writing with the division engineer by July 1, 2021.
